I'm extremely empathetic when it comes to teaching children with special needs because two of my own kids struggle with learning disabilities. I've also taught three of my four children at home, educating them at the elementary school levels to high school levels. Once I became an empty-nester, I transitioned into working for the public school system. Employed as a paraprofessional, I helped educate students with special learning needs. I attained my license to teach while attending Weekend College at the same time I was a teacher. Starting in 2013, I served as a special education teacher until 2015. I'm very enthusiastic about the opportunity to leverage my training and experience to offer academic support to other students. It's my philosophy that every student is capable of absorbing material as long as it's tailored to individual learning approaches. I also believe in developing surroundings that foster growth, creativity, tenacity, and discovery.Outside of the classroom, I enjoy reading, knitting, scrapbooking, Irish dancing, and taking long walks.
